3. APPLIED STATISTICS
During
post-graduate doctoral studies in Applied Mathematics, worked on a model of fuel
consumption of vehicles on highways and freeways based on microscopic
car-following models in order to assess the impact of alternative traffic
control models, which affected the flow patterns of traffic, on the overall
fleet consumption of petroleum products.
During
the summer of 1977, designed and performed a study of first year law students at
the University of West Los Angeles School of Law using regression techniques.
The purpose was to relate academic performance to a detailed analysis of
study materials, methods, and habits.
Acted
as a consultant in Statistics for a Ph.D. candidate in Clinical Psychology in
1991 and 1992.

a practice in Clinical Psychology from a manual system to a computerized system,
including financial management, client data entry, time-keeping, billing and

TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS ANALYSIS
Principal
author of a State of the Art Assessment of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles in Use
throughout the World, a report prepared for Congress.
Developed the data requirements and collection methodology, and
extensively traveled in France, Germany and the Great Britain in fulfillment of
this task. Information was
collected from vehicle manufacturers, operators, and government officials.
Managed the statistical analysis efforts, as well as report organization,
editing, and publication. Designed
the cover art.
Project
manager of a study for the Urban Mass Transit Administration regarding Automated
Fare Collection equipment and methods for the purpose of assessing alternative
systems approaches as well as the costs and reliability associated with existing
systems in use.

practice, handling all aspects of a variety of civil cases, including real
estate, business disputes, contracts, foreclosure, unlawful detainer, mechanics'
liens, negligence, nuisance, dissolution of marriage, dissolution of
partnerships, bankruptcy, probate, conservatorship, and estate planning. An enjoyable highlight was in December, 1982, when the firm
obtained a jury verdict of over $550,000 on behalf of 41 clients who lived in a
subdivision adjacent to a Sewage Treatment Plant. I
was responsible for trial preparation and I applied knowledge of mathematics and statistics to cross-examine expert
witnesses during trial concerning models used by the United States Environmental
Protection Agency relating to drift of odors.

as an adjunct faculty member of the Suffolk County Community College in Selden,

“A
Night at the Old Buckeye”, an annual
fund-raiser for the Carmel Valley Library, (1995 - 1999). This
fund-raiser helped to keep the doors of the library open one extra day a week
and produced capital funds to help with the expansion of the library. Assisted in
By-Laws revision and general support activities (2004). Director
(2005-present). Established a School Scrabble Club. Organized, produced and
coordinated a qualifying Scrabble Tournament and sent the 2 winning students to
the National School Scrabble Championship in Boston, where they took 31st place
out of 98 teams. (2006)

Rotary Blues Band
- Keyboardist and secretary. The
band, comprised of members of the Carmel-by-the-Sea Rotary Club, rehearsed once
a week, performed for a fee and established a scholarship fund.
Donations were made to various worthy organizations and individuals, such
as music programs in the local schools. Primarily through the band's and
the Club's efforts, a recording studio was created in the Carmel Youth Center
for local youth to train, rehearse and record. (1994 to 1998)

“Carmel
Rotary Soul and Blues Revue” - Organized, produced and coordinated an
annual fund-raiser for the Carmel Rotary Club, the purpose of which was to raise
money for youth music programs in the local community.

Red Cross speakers into local bars to spread accurate and up-to-date information
